With hair fall being one of the pressing concerns for an increasing number of people, non-surgical hair growth treatments are very popular these days simply because they don’t have any downtime and side-effects. Dermatologist Dr Stuti Khare Shukla, says, “Earlier, people used to opt for hair transplantation surgery, but now with advancement in technology, more and more people prefer non-surgical hair growth treatment as everybody wants invasive or semi-invasive options. Most of the non-surgical methods are non-invasive methods which hardly take 10-15 minutes. Non-surgical hair growth treatment involves no blood-shed, has no downtime, is pocket-friendly and has no side-effects.”

Speaking about the technique involved in non-surgical hair growth treatment, Dr Shukla says that its ease and comfort makes it the most unique and beneficial. “Some of the treatments are platelet rich plasma therapy, mesotherapy, laser light therapy. For the ones having mild hair fall or hair loss, just medicines can also work. These procedures are fast and require less than five minutes, and within 10 minutes, the patient can go back home and resume their daily activities immediately,” she adds.
Types Of Treatments

Platelet-rich plasma therapy is quite well-known; it involves injecting the patient’s own blood superficially in the scalp. Apart from that, mesotherapy is also a great treatment. The other important treatments are hair growth boosters, which are actually the amalgamation of various amino acids, hair growth factors and multivitamins that help in nurturing the hair follicles, thereby promoting hair growth. Dr Shukla says, “Within 45 days to two months of time, you will start noticing a great amount of difference in your hair regrowth. Within four to five months, even the baldest patches start getting filled. These treatments have been used on people who were already suffering from baldness and people who are looking for enhancement of existing hair, which showed extraordinary results.” She also mentions laser light therapy, in which light is focused on the patient’s head through a helmet like device, helps in hair regrowth. Derma roller micro needling is also used which helps in boosting collagen production, thereby production of hair follicles.

Note that all these available treatments need to be carried out under the supervision of a qualified dermatologist. Along with these treatments, your dermatologist might suggest you lotions like minoxidil, redenseyl, multivitamin supplements and the like, depending on your individual needs. Dr Shukla says, “The result of these non-surgical treatments depends upon the understanding of the doctor that treats you. Non-surgical treatments have the advantage of not having to use anything which is too sharp, scary or painful. Mesotherapy and the pain involved hardly lasts for two minutes, and non-surgical hair growth boosters are a boon, having transformed and reformed the lives of several women suffering from hair loss issues and baldness.”
With non-surgical treatments, patients need to understand that for a good exterior, you need to have a good interior as well. “Your lifestyle, diet and exercise play a very important role in your overall attitude, and reflect externally. Along with going through these surgeries it is important to take care of your lifestyle as well, which includes exercising at least twice or thrice a week for minimum 30 minutes. Follow a good diet with less carbs and more proteins for better results,” concludes Dr Shukla.
