If you haven't yet heard about Bollywood actor-producer Anushka Sharma and Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli’s fairytale love story and wedding, you're probably living under a rock. It all started in January 2013 when the two shot together for a commercial ad. After being in a relationship for almost four years, the couple finally tied the knot at a hush-hush wedding in Tuscany, Italy on December 11, 2017. Tinsel town's favourite lovebirds later honeymooned in Finland and threw a grand reception in New Delhi on December 21. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and cricketers Suresh Raina, Gautam Gambhir and Shikhar Dhawan were among the few who graced the occasion. Also called as Virushka by fans, the newlyweds will be hosting another reception in Mumbai on December 26.
From her first Bollywood film ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’, opposite Shah Rukh Khan, this 29-year-old has definitely come a long way and how. Her debut movie earned her a Filmfare Award for the Best Actress and since then there was no turning back for this young actor. She later rose to stardom with leading roles in Yash Raj Films' romances ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ and ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’, which won her a Filmfare award for the Best Supporting Actress. With successful roles of a gritty wrestler in ‘Sultan’ and a television reporter ‘PK’, she went on to become the only female actor of her generation to have had two huge box office hits.
She further tasted back-to-back success with NH10, which also marked her production debut and ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’. While ‘NH10’ showcased her chops as an actor and producer, in ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ she sparkled in a different avatar. After the maiden production of NH10, the production company Clean Slate Films, co-founded by her and her brother Karnesh Sharma in 2014, the duo next went on to produce ‘Phillauri’ which again saw Sharma in the lead. Two new films ‘Pari’ and ‘Kaneda’ have also been commissioned under her banner and are slated to release in the year 2018.
Apart from her acting and producing career, Sharma is the ambassador for multiple brands and products and has designed her own line of clothing called Nush for the girl on the go. She supports various causes, including gender equality and animal rights and has been quite vocal about her opinions and has also time and again talked about the existing sexism in Bollywood. She is the face of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Mission which aims to build a healthy and sanitised nation and is associated to the initiative which aims to build an open defecation free (ODF) India.
