What could be better than receiving a box of home-made mithai on Diwali? A box of chocolate mithai! Any Indian festival is not complete without a little indulgence in our favourite sweets.  This festive season, let the indulgence be with nuts and chocolate, all made at home, in your own kitchen. If you do not know where to start, don’t worry. We have Chef Ranveer Brar come to your rescue on behalf of Hershey India. He curates a traditional recipe to make his special Choco Sev Barfi. So, don’t wait, just enjoy the sweets with your loved ones.

Choco Sev Barfi

Prep time: 15 minutes

Cooking time: 30 minutes + cooling time

Serves: 4-5

Ingredients

120 gm khoya

50 ml chocolate syrup

20 ml water

80 + 40 gm unsalted sev

2 drops vanilla essence

Almond and pistachio slivers for garnishing

 

Method

  1. Mix the khoya, chocolate syrup and water in a pan. Place this pan on the stove on a medium flame and allow it to heat. Stir the mix.
  2. Add 80 grams of the unsalted sev and two drops of the vanilla essence and mix well. The ingredients should come together to form a thick mixture. Stir continuously so that the mixture combines well and heats uniformly to mix. This will take about five to seven minutes.
  3. Once you have a thick mixture, turn the heat off. Remove the mixture in a separate bowl.
  4. Add the remaining 40 grams of the unsalted sev.
  5. Evenly spread the barfi mix in a square six-inch mould. Grease the mould a little beforehand. If you do not have a square mould, any other mould or a small thali will also work.
  6. Garnish the barfi with the almond and pistachio slivers and cut into bite-size pieces.
  7. Allow to cool, demould and enjoy!
  8. These will stay refrigerated for a week.
