Shilpa's love for ethnic wear

 

1. What does ethnic mean for you…
I personally prefer ethnic wear to be rooted to tradition as much as possible. I feel that there is no need to give it a contemporary twist unnecessarily.

2. Which is your favourite ethnicwear….
It is the saree as it is classic and always in fashion. I look up to my mother and the evergreen Bollywood diva Rekha for inspiration.

3. Do you enjoy shopping for your son?
As a mother, I love indulging my son Viaan with gifts. But even if he is 3-years-old, he has a mind of his own. Also, he loves wearing the same thing no matter what new I keep adding to his wardrobe. His favourite is wearing matching capes with Avengers t-shirts.

4. Tell us about your SSK label…
As a creative person I understand fabrics and colours. In fact I have designed my own outfits for a lot of occasions in the past. So I am really excited about my fashion label SSK that offers my signature line of sarees, leggings, slim fit jeans and denims. 

5. You are set to launch your book in mid-October. Can you tell us about it?
I am excited about my book. It is on health and nutrition. I cannot give details yet but fitness enthusiasts will love it.
