Every year we have a few star kids debuting in Bollywood. But coming from a film background and having a superstar parent doesn't ensure success. And thank god, we do not have all star kids aspiring to become actors. Aren't we happy that Ekta Kapoor chose to be behind the scenes as a producer and not become an actor like younger sibling Tusshar Kapoor? Here are star kids who chose to stay away from the arc lights and carve their own niche.
1. Ekta Kapoor: Though Ekta didn’t take up acting like father Jeetendra and brother Tusshar Kapoor, her contribution to Indian entertainment is phenomenal. She single-handedly brought about a paradigm shift in television viewing and eventually forayed into film production as well.
2. Suzanne Khan: With a family name and looks to match, Susanne could have very well chosen a Bollywood career like brothers Fardeen and Zayad Khan. Instead she opted for a career in interior designing and with her maiden venture The Charcoal Project, sent waves across the lifestyle sector.
3. Riddhima Kapoor: Unlike Ranbir, Kareena and Karisma, Riddhima was always wary of the limelight. Happily married to her classmate and businessman Bharat Sawhney, she is now based in Delhi and is a successful interiors and fashion designer. She also endorses Mumbai’s Notandas & Sons Jewellers along with mom Neetu.
4. Masaba: She’s unconventionally gorgeous with a mix of great looks from mum Neena Gupta and dad Vivian Richards. But even then she chose to skip the glitzy glamour world and became a fashion designer. Her quirky clothing line has inspired so many more to follow her footsteps.
5. Rhea Kapoor: With Bollywood’s reigning queen Sonam Kapoor as a sister and veteran actor Anil Kapoor as father, it wouldn’t have been surprising if Rhea too chose to act in films. Instead she chose to become a producer and is also a fashion stylist for sis Sonam.
6. Saba Ali Khan: The eldest daughter of actress Sharmila Tagore and former Indian cricket skipper, late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi too consciously stayed away from Bollywood. Unlike her actor siblings, Saif and Soha, Saba chose a career in jewellery designing and event management. In fact she’s such a recluse that she’s rarely photographed in industry parties.
7. Priya Dutt: Being the daughter of actors Sunil Dutt and Nargis and the younger sister of Sanjay Dutt, films should have been the default choice for Priya. But she decided against it. Instead, she took a plunge into politics despite holding a post graduate diploma in television production from the Centre for Media Arts, New York City.
8. Shweta Nanda: With names like Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan to boast of, and the gorgeous looks that she’s blessed with, Shweta joining films was the most expected thing. But the lady chose to become a news anchor for a renowned Indian news channel for a while. Now she’s a happy columnist.
