Miss Grand International, an annual international beauty contest run by the Miss Grand International Organization, is based in Thailand. Like the name suggests, it is a unique contest that is held in search of the potential woman who can run and handle the campaign “Stop the War and Violence.” The competition takes place over a week in multiple events spread around Thailand.

Vartika Singh was one of the 78 contestants from all across the world set out to win the crown. She with the other participants then had to be part of various activities like photo shoots, videos, fashion shows, beach parties, preliminary competition, rehearsals, costume parades and more before reaching the grand finale. Once on the grand stage, Vartika won hearts and a lot of applause in the preliminary competitions - swimsuit and evening gown rounds. No wonder then, she became one of top 5 finalists that included contestants from Australia, Thailand, Dominican Republic and Philippines.

For the question and answer round, Vartika Singh was asked who has been the most influential person in her life. Her reply was simple but powerful - “An eye for eye will make the whole world go blind. A simple man inspired the whole world, Mahatma Gandhi. He led India towards freedom singlehandedly by following Ahimsa (Non violence). If one person can take an initiative and make such an impact, if I go onto to win the coveted title, I would promote Ahimsa (non-violence) too.”

Her mother Manjulata Singh, a teacher in a government school and father Dr. B. N Singh, a scientist, were extremely happy about their dear daughter's achievement.
Here’s wishing her a grand journey ahead.
