We love Dhoni. Yes, we all do! But watching MS Dhoni play or all the entertainment IPL promises are not the only reasons we are excited about the season 8 of Indian Premiere League 2015. This season has six hot new foreign cricketers in the league. We list out the new drool-worthy players to watch out for.
Trent Boult (Sunrisers Hyderabad): After a successful run at the recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup down south—where Boult was the joint highest wicket-taker with 22 wickets—it would be interesting to see if the New Zealand pacer will be able to continue his good form on Indian soil. Touted to take the IPL by storm, if his bounce and pace haven’t impressed you yet, be ready to be bowled over by this pacer’s smile.
Sean Abbott (Royal Challengers Bangalore): This Australian quickie won the Bradman Young Cricketer of the year in January 2015 and has shown tremendous discipline and pace since his debut. The RCB pace attack will be a formidable one when Abbott and Starc get together.
Kane Williamson (Sunrisers Hyderabad): This young cutie has added much depth to the New Zealand batting line-up. With a calm head over his shoulders and his ability to construct innings, it would be interesting to see if he can hush critics and convert his successful strike rate in the eight edition of the IPL.
David Wiese (Royal Challengers Bangalore): This South African cricketer has adapted well to the T20 format and has taken quick wickets and proved that he can be handy with the bat when required. It would be interesting to see which fast bowler—Sean Abbott or David Wiese—will make it to playing eleven in the RCB team to support Mitchell Starc and be the impetus to the bowling attack.
Mitchell McClenaghan (Mumbai Indians): Though he didn’t have too good a run in the ICC Cricket World Cup, we are hoping the handsome Kiwi pacer can turn things around for myself and MI in IPL 8.
Kyle Abbott (Chennai Super Kings): The Proteas had a good run in the ICC Cricket World Cup, and this pacer took regular wickets and supported Dale Steyn efficiently and made their bowling attack a fire power. We are hoping he can keep the good run going for Team Dhoni.
